Melissa wood

Melissa is a documentary showrunner, producer, writer, director and former shooter (and very occasional pinch-hitting audio recordist). For over a decade she's produced quality non-fiction programming for Netflix, National Geographic, Showtime, Discovery, History, A&E, Travel and more.

Most recently, Melissa oversaw the Peacock project The Geography of Bliss, hosted by Rainn Wilson. Before that, she helmed a PBS series exploring our relationship with nature, called America Outdoors with Baratunde Thurston. Other showrunning experience includes: High Score, a Netflix series exploring the early days of video games; Showtime's Dark Net, a series about how technology is changing the way we live; and National Geographic's Explorer, a series of one-hour monthly specials covering various topics such as black market antiquities, the Kurds' fight against Isis and a climbing expedition in Myanmar.
